The MLA’04 Meeting

The MLA President for 2003/04 Patricia Thibodeau started the MLA´04 Opening Ceremony welcoming the 2,500 participants. She composed the main table with Mary Joan Tooey the coordinator of the Washington DC, Organizing Committee and other MLA members. She addressed her congratulations to the new MLA members, the international participants and all the professionals prized during the 2003 year. At following Abel L. Packer, Director of BIREME/PAHO/WHO and Chair of the ICML9 Organizing Committee invited to the podium issued a presentation on the main theme and objectives of the ICML9 and invited all the presents to join ICML9 in Salvador, Bahia, Brasil in September, 2005 (see speech of Abel Packer) . He also showed a videoclip with images and sounds of Bahia that involved all the plenary.

The ICML9 stand offered by MLA and located just in front of the MLA´04 secretariat was a focal point to all the people seeking further information on the registration, contributed paper and poster submission and also picking up promotional materials as bottoms, frisbees, coconut candies and Bonfim ribbons.
