Nowadays the Brazilian Sanitary Surveillance Agency – Anvisa, through Unit of Controlled Products – UPROC, from General Office of Drugs – GGMED, is responsible for the control of national and international commerce of narcotic, psychotropic substances and precursors, as well as the drugs that contain them, present at lists of Administrative Rule nº 344/98 and its updates. One of the duties of the Unit of Controlled Products is the responsibility of provide information to the entire Brazilian society and international community. This database serves as a research toll on technical-scientific information of psychotropic substances and drugs that contain them, registered in Brazil. To accomplish this goal, research mechanisms have been constructed, which information source are the substances and drug “Master” schedules. These schedules have been developed with technical-scientific information such as: chemical name, molecular formula, structural formula and molecular weight, relating to substances, and com mercial name, pharmaceutical presentation and administration way, relating to drugs. This database will provide accurate information not only to the National Sanitary Surveillance System by giving the necessary support to take decisions in a short period of time, but also to the Internet users as a free instrument of research.
