P111 - Virtual community of research: model proposal

This project outlines a model for organizing an online community involved in research. The objectives are twofold: to share information and knowledge from researchers and to contribute to optimize scientific communication among these researchers and their accomplishments.
Our methodology tracks the literature on the available online research communities, aiming at identifying institutions which may constitute cemented research online communities. Another objetive is to learn about the organizations, finding out how they work, comparing them with the research environment at the Centro de Informação Científica e Tecnológica (CICT), Fiocruz’s scientific and technological center, thus trying to identify methodological proceedings that may fit Brazilian reality.
We expect this approach will lead to the creation of a pilot oline research community at CICT. Should its researchers adopt it, other Fiocruz’s areas may follow suit. Online research communitites are essencial tools for stimulating inte r and multi-disciplinary projects, so as to mingle the core goal with other Science and Technology areas.
