The growing insert and user of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the libraries environment in the recent years is presenting new challenges for the information professionals. The literature in the area is reach in the report of new drawings and perspectives for, among other topics, the acquisition politics; for management of the collection; for perfomance evaluation and, mainly, for user’s needs. Perhaps in this context the impact of ICTs becomes more visible, as far as it radically alters the search procedures and forms of identification and access to the collection. Computer terminals replaced the old paper files: what was apart has now been arranged on a computer screen where is possible to interact with the whole collection in a faster and direct way. Researchers have pointed that there can be advantages and disadvantages for the users and that there are no easy answers. This is ten case of the Library of the National School of Public Health Sérgio Arouca. In searching for some answer s and evidences, and trying to improve users satisfaction the Library, decided to initiate a study to get knowledge about users behavior and attitudes related to human-machine interaction. The sense making perspective is the methodological approach that is going to be applied within two different groups: of the researchers and the students. The main objective is the elaboration of an initial diagnosis of the interaction user-collection through www.saudepublica.cict.fiocruz.br, more specifically to users of the library terminals. The pursued goal is not only to try to assure a high degree of user’s satisfaction with the services, but also to give continuity to the institutional politics of improvement of local practices.
