P105 - Construction of the Virtual Library in Health with the thematic Violence and Health

It describes the creation and operation of the national page of the Virtual Health Library in Violence and Health to attend the need of spreading, integrating and sharing  documents and information in this thematic. These documents constitute the collection of the Nucleus of Information and Documentation (NID) of the Latin American Center of Studies of Violence and Health Jorge Careli, which belongs to the National School of Public Health, a unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, a federal institution located in Rio de Janeiro. It is our objective: (a) to spread information about the area of Violence and Health, in a virtual way, without restrictions of localization and schedule; (b) to facilitate the use of the scientific and technological interchange with other virtual libraries; (c) to assist  knowledge productions; (d) to subsidize proposals and politics of violence prevention. To make sure   that all information contained in the collection of the NID will be accessed in a more including way, it turned necessary the creation of an efficient mechanism in the area of  the dissemination of information. The construction of the Virtual Health Library counts with the technician-scientific support of the American Latin Center and of the Caribbean Center of Information in Health Sciences in partnership with the Center of Cientific and Technological Information, other unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. In this direction, the Latin American Center of Studies of Violence and Health Jorge Careli  becomes a partner in the cientific developement in Brazilian territory. The methodology used will be in accordance with the orientation of the American Latin Center and of the Caribbean Center of Information in Health Sciences. All documentation will be treated, brought up to date, stored and divulged from programs and tools made avaiable from the Center refered above (DECS, LIS, WinIsis, LILDBI, etc.). The qualification of the NID team has been carried through for the Center of Cientific and Technological Information. The creation of the Virtual Health Library in Violence and Health meets with the objective of the Virtual Libraries in general, since it intends to answer in an organized and efficiently way to the emergent needs of the Latin America and the Caribbean countries to produce and operate sources of information in health in the Internet System.
